Can I have a Spa treatment at Stanley House Spa without booking a Spa Day?

Of course! Please visit the luxury treatment section of our website to find the perfect treatment for you. Use of the relaxation room is available before and after your treatment.

What should I bring with me?

Robes, towels and flip flops are provided for you with a locker for storage. Your own swimwear is required.

Am I required to fill out a health questionnaire?

The completion of a health questionnaire is required by all guests attending the spa and must be completed on every visit. All treatments are booked subject to medical status. Suitability of treatments will be reconfirmed on arrival at the spa. If you fail to notify us prior to your visit of pregnancy or a medical condition, we reserve the right to refuse to offer treatments and charge for the treatment time reserved.

How deep is the hydrotherapy pool?

The hydrotherapy pool is 1.25m deep.

What facilities do you have?

Rural Hydro Pool The wonderfully relaxing, heated water treatment pool provides a haven over a rural landscape, even on frosty winter days. The swan neck fountain eases away tension in your neck and shoulders. Hydrotherapy jets suspend you above the water recliner, whilst gently massaging your body.

Salt Infusion Room A gentle, moist heat combined with bursts of sea salt infusions boosts blood circulation and helps to clear congestion. It will enliven your senses, eliminate toxins and ease muscular tension.

Herbal Sauna A relaxing and invigorating dry heat that has a purifying effect on the body. The immune system is boosted as everyday stresses are relieved. The herbal aromas clear the sinuses.

Finnish Sauna A hotter version of the Herbal Sauna, with a clear glass side which overlooks stunning views. The original Finnish experience.

Aroma Steam Room Aromatically infused steam slowly heats and refreshes the body. Breathing is eased and your lymphatic system is cleansed, resulting in a glowing skin tone.

Sensation Showers A selection of three water experiences with differing temperatures, aromas and colour therapy light moods. Explore the tropical rain, cold mist and gush showers, designed to refresh the mind and body.

Is there storage available?

A locker is provided for the duration of your visit. We do recommend keeping valuables at home and to arrive wearing no jewellery. Items are left at the owner’s risk inside of the lockers.

Is the Spa easily accessible?

The Spa is accessible to all with disabled changing facilities for comfort. The Spa entrance, reception, lounge and treatment rooms are located on the ground floor with changing facilities and thermal bathing suite located on the lower ground floor. All accessible via a lift.

What is the mobile phone policy?

Whilst we encourage you to take a picture and tag us on your social media, we do ask that this is done discreetly and to not include other Spa users. The Stanley House team will do their best to approach guests who use their mobile phones and are disturbing the quiet in public areas.

What is provided in the changing rooms?

Hair dryers and straighteners are provided for your convenience. Amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided. Cleanser, toner and moisturiser with cotton buds and cotton pads are also available.

Can I use the facilities without booking a Spa day?

Yes you can. The use of the thermal facilities for two hours is £48 per person (Monday-Friday). For hotel residents the price is £30 per person Monday-Friday, £48 per person Saturday-Sunday. We do advise to book in advance to secure your time.

Do you cater for large bookings?

The Spa at Stanley House prides itself on exclusivity, limiting the numbers in the thermal facilities to allow for a more relaxed, private, enjoyable experience. We also offer private hire for large bookings please call us to discuss.

How do I book?

Simply call 01254 769200 or email thespa@stanleyhouse.co.uk. We advise you to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We require full payment on booking.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Notification of cancellation is required 72 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment in writing. Under 72hrs notice will result in a £25 amendment fee payable upon rearrangement of your appointment. Cancellation under 24hrs or failure to show will result in your payment being non-refundable.

Group bookings of four and more are required to give four days notice of cancellation. If a booking is cancelled with less than four days notice there is a £25 amendment fee upon rearrangement of your appointment.. Cancellation under 48hrs or failure to show will result in your payment being non-refundable.

Private Hire bookings are required to give seven days notice of cancellation.  If a booking is cancelled with less than seven days notice there is a £50 amendment fee upon rearrangement of your appointment. Cancellation under 48hrs or failure to show will result in your payment being non-refundable.

Are there any age restrictions?

Thermal bathing and treatments are only available to guests 16 years and above. Persons aged 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What time should I arrive?

We advise you to arrive 15 minutes ahead of time allowing yourself the opportunity to change, complete your medical questionnaire and relax prior to the treatment or thermal experience. If you are late, your treatment/thermal experience time may be shortened, and the same treatment price will apply. To make the most of your treatment you are welcome to take time to relax and unwind in The Spa Lounge.

Are refreshments available?

A selection of complimentary teas, coffees and refreshments are available in our Spa Lounge. For your comfort, Spa lunch menu items will be served in Fred’s Brasserie.

What are The Spa’s opening times?

The Spa is open from 10am until 8pm Monday – Sunday.

The Spa is located in the heart of the Ribble Valley in Mellor near Blackburn.

I am pregnant, can I still visit The Spa?

All pregnant guests are advised to seek medical advice from their medical practitioners regarding the thermal bathing. Pregnancy massages are only permitted after the 12 weeks. For more advise please speak to a member of The Spa team at thespa@stanleyhouse.co.uk or 01254 769200.

Is parking available?

A free car park is available to all Stanley House Hotel & Spa guests with EV charging stations also available.

Am I allowed to drink alcohol in the spa?

Alcohol is not permitted in the thermal bathing suite. Alcohol can only be consumed in the spa lounge, terrace and in Fred’s Brasserie. We recommend drinking water to keep hydrated especially when using the thermal bathing suite. Water is available in the thermal bathing suite plus the spa lounge where other refreshments are available.

Spa etiquette

We ask that all Spa users respect other Spa guests and staff whilst on the premises. We reserve the right to remove any guest that is verbally or physically abusive without a refund. We ask that the Spa users are respectful and considerate to others when using the thermal bathing facilities and allow fair use to all.
