Where do I start?


Wedding Checklist

Twelve to Six Months Ahead

 Confirm arrangements with your registrar and discuss the service, give notice of the marriage to the Superintendant Registrar
 Choose your own and your bridesmaids’ outfits
 Groom to organise suits for himself and the best man
 Book wedding cars, photographer and videographer
 Choose Florist and discuss ideas
 Book band, DJ and /or musicians to play at your ceremony/reception
 Organise Wedding Insurance
 Plan and book your honeymoon – remember to book the time off from work

Six to Four Months Ahead:

 Organise dress fittings
 Choose your gift list company
 Make a first draft of the invitation list
 Order your stationery
 Order your Wedding cake
 Choose and purchase your Wedding rings
 Pay the next installment to Stanley House Hotel & Spa
 Reserve accommodation for guests who may require it
 Choose or start making your wedding day favours

Four to Two Months Ahead:

 If you are marrying in a register office, confirm your booking now
 Send out invitations, including gift list information
 Discuss hairstyle and make-up options with your hairdresser / make-up artist
 Write your personalised wedding vows, if necessary
 Confirm your finer details with Stanley House Hotel & Spa
 Book a table at the ‘Food for Thought’ menu tasting event at Stanley House Hotel & Spa
 Contact local or national newspapers about publishing your wedding announcement
 Have order of service sheets printed
 Finalise honeymoon plans, check passports are up to date and book travel insurance
 Organise vaccinations and visas
 Buy your going away outfit, if you are having one
 Buy a guest book

Two to One Month Ahead:

 Chase all unanswered invitations and draw up a final guest list
 Work out a seating plan
 Write place cards or send to calligrapher/ printer
 Type up a list of any must-take shots you want and send to the photographer
 Buy the marriage licence from the registrar
 If you’re changing your surname or address, notify your bank, doctor and so on
 Pay your final balance at Stanley House Hotel & Spa
 Book travellers’ cheques/foreign currency
 Have a final dress fitting with shoes, jewellery and lingerie
 Book your final hair appointment
 Check your Wedding outfit will be ready
 Finalise transport
 Father of the bride, groom and best man to write their speeches
 Find out where your guests are staying if you plan to deliver welcome notes or gifts to their rooms
 Choose gifts for your wedding party
 Organise stag and hen parties (for at least a week before your big day!)

Two Weeks Ahead:

 Wear-in your wedding shoes at home
 Have a final hair and make up practice
 Remind your groom to have a final trim at the hairdressers
 Re-confirm final number with Stanley House Hotel & Spa
 Make sure the best man has arranged for the hired outfits to be returned on time
 Double-check your outfit is complete
 Arrange for the cake to be delivered to the reception venue
 Confirm photographer, flowers, cars, bands and DJ
 Make final honeymoon checks
 Pack for your honeymoon

The Day Before:

 Have honeymoon luggage sent to your first night hotel, if required
 Have a manicure, pedicure and any other pampering treatments
 Relax and have an early night

On The Day / Day After:

 Check the best man has the rings
 Check the best man has picked up the button holes and corsages for the groom’s side of the wedding party
 Take home your dress and your groom’s suit after you’ve changed into your going-away outfit
 Pack and take home wedding presents
 Return hired items to relevant shops
 Send out wedding cake to those unable to attend
 And remember, relax and enjoy yourself.
