We are thinking of having a cake made of cheese – can you provide bread and crackers to accompany and if so what is the cost?
To provide your own food, we would charge a service fee of £1.95 per person. This is for the use of our crockery / cutlery and serving of the dish.
You may wish for us to provide additional garnish items which would be priced as follows:
Biscuits with butter – £1.70 per person
Grapes – £0.80 per person
Chutney – £1.50 per person
Do you insist on doing all the catering?
With award winning chef’s – why change a recipe that works so successfully.
Can you supply examples of suggested menus along with prices?
Our menus have been designed by the Executive Head Chef as a guide to the type of dishes we can offer, however should you have any specific preferences, they will be welcomed and open for personal discussion. Please contact the sales team for the current full menu selector.
Are canapes included in the wedding packages?
We do have a variety of canapes available to you at a price of £6.50 per person for a choice of four. The current selection is as follows:
Coronation chicken on mini poppadom with mango and coriander
Deep fried prawn toast with sesame and sweet chilli sauce
Honey and ginger glazed pork skewer, spiced apple sauce
Smoked salmon and cream cheese press with garlic chive
Basil pesto puff pastry twists, whipped cheese (v)
Beef pastrami on toasted rye with mustard mayo, pickle and red onion
Panzerotti with tomato, basil and chorizo
Creamed gorgonzola with prosciutto, semi dried figs and pickled walnut
On the day of the wedding, we would reserve a plate especially for the bride and groom to enjoy following the photographs.
Can we offer some classic nibbles during the drinks reception rather than canapes?
May we suggest a selection of Olives, Asian crackers, nuts, kettle chips? These are priced at £3.25 per person
Can we come and taste some dishes before we choose the final menu?
We do host periodic evenings dedicated purely for your menu tasting. The Grill on the Hill is the chosen venue; all our brides and grooms hosting their celebrations within three months of the event date are invited to book intimate or family tables at the most convenient time for their party. We do ask you to pre-order the dishes you wish to sample with no restrictions as to your choice, our Banqueting Head Chef will personally prepare your selections with our Banqueting Operations Manager instructing the team on presentation and service.
The cost is in line with our current menu tasting offering, thus being £35 per person for a three course menu (supplements may be applicable, dependent on final menu choice)
Why do you charge supplement prices for some dishes?
The packages have been created to ensure they encompass all elements required to host a successful event, there are opportunities to enhance your selection and personalise the offering especially for you.
Can I offer a choice menu to my guests?
We do ask that the guests are given a set menu, however if you ask your guests in the invitations if they have any special dietary requirements and these happen to clash with you chosen menu, we will provide a suitable alternative. We ask for a working table plan two weeks prior to the event of which the guest with special dietary requirements will be highlighted in order for us serve with minimal disruption/inconvenience to the guest.
Why don’t you allow choice menus?
For weddings especially, we always endeavour to create that seamless service, where your guests are pampered with minimal disruption to their flow of celebrations. To create a choice menu, this can delay the service, thus hampering the guest experience. I can say from past experiences that with even the most organised of Brides and Grooms, it has caused additional stress in the lead up to their big day and even then there are still the guests that change their minds causing what can only be classed as disruption to our service mission.
Can I hire a candy cart on the day of our wedding?
This would be absolutely fine with us if you wish to organise this facility independently with the supplier, they will have access from 7am on the morning of the wedding to set everything in place.
Can I hire an ice cream van on the day of our wedding?
We would ask that they only feature as part of the drinks reception proceedings, please keep in mind that the private gardens do not have direct drive access.
When do we choose the menu?
We would invite you back to Stanley House with three months to go until your big day. At this point we would discuss menus, wines, the logistics and timings of your day. Only estimated number of guests is required at this time as we appreciate you will not have received your RSVP’s.
Can I offer my guests coffee after the Wedding Breakfast?
Should you wish to include a coffee course, this is priced at £2.25 per person (served with homemade chocolates). We do advise that as this is freshly brewed filter coffee, this is served to all guests. In addition to coffee, we would of course offer English Breakfast tea and herbal teas as required.
If you are confident that not all guests will want this course, it may be best to advise those who do require coffee to order this from the bar as this would then be served and charged on a supply/demand basis.
I want to make my menu special, do you have any suggestions?
Personally, I feel that a sorbet course adds that final touch to the menu offering which provides that ‘wow’ factor your guests will not be expecting. Traditionally served after the main course to cleanse a palette, this provides a small rest break before serving a dessert.
I am organizing a Muslim wedding please can you advise what you offer as halal catering?
Please click here to view or full Wedding Breakfast selector Where our dishes are typically English in origin with European influences, we can ensure all chicken and lamb is halal with advance notice. The butchers who supply our meat are Greaves Of Upholland.
My suppliers have advised that they need a meal during their time at the wedding, what are my options?
We can reserve a table in our Mr Fred’s Bar & Lounge for anyone wanting a light meal, all charges will be processed to the main account as instructed by yourselves. We can also offer a selection of sandwiches and fries which are priced at £6.95 per person – this can be prepared and served as required on the day.
What are the evening buffet options?
We currently have two offerings which are proving very popular. The first being a hot barm offering, where we have a selection of meats, carved in front of your guest and placed onto barms and served with either fries, new potatoes or seasoned wedges. This can also be waiter served should you prefer to not have a buffet station.
Our second offering is a hot dish selection. The most popular being Lancashire Hot Pot, Chilli Con Carni, Steak and Ale Pie – to name just a few.
Do I have to cater for all my evening guests?
The Hotel insists that the minimum catering numbers are not lower than 90% of the adult guest attendance and do meet if not exceed the Minimum Guaranteed Numbers (this would form part of your event contract)
